Chemically restoring pipeline position
Current renewal methods for pipelines and culverts are very effective for pipe function decline and accident prevention, but offer little in the way of rehabilitating meandering and slacks of pipes. Continually expanding urbanisation means that restoring pipeline position using open cut methods has become less desirable, and as such has led to the development of new pipeline position restoration technologies, such as the chemical injection method.
The state of road gully sytems in Germany Part 2
Part one of this article (Trenchless International January 2010) introduced the approach to the survey on the state of the road gully systems in Germany, the data pool, as well as project-specific key figures in the first part of this publication. The second part of this article includes the results of questions concerning cleaning, inspection, leak tightness testing, requirements for rehabilitation and rehabilitation costs, as well as a summary of the results of the survey.

KPMG’s latest global construction survey, Navigating the Storm, has revealed that the construction industry is positive about its future prospects, despite the global financial crisis (GFC). Almost two thirds of respondents expect to either increase or at least maintain profit levels by mid-2010.
