Drilling deep in Saudi Arabia

Thu, 8 December 2011 Gulf British Drilling, based in Saudi Arabia, has completed a 68 km pipeline installation of 48 inch steel pipe along the Aramco Manifa to Saphaniyah pipeline, including eight road crossings that required directional drilling.

Powering the west coast

The Vancouver City Central Transmission Project, located in Vancouver British Columbia, Canada, is the most significant upgrade by BC Hydro to the city's electricity system in 30 years. The project consists of 8 km of 230 kV underground transmission circuits, including an 850 m horizontal directional drilled crossing beneath the bed of False Creek and a new distribution substation with an ultimate capacity of 400 MVA, commissioned to an initial capacity of 134 MVA.

Marine outfalls installed by horizontal directional drilling – Part Two

Marine Waste Water Outfalls and Treatment Systems is a book written by six authors, all with extensive experience and expertise is some aspect of the design and construction of marine outfalls. The lead author was Professor Phil Roberts of Georgia Institute of Technology, a world expert in the mixing and fluid dynamics of natural water bodies, which is fundamental to effective outfall design. It is emphasised that the book is based on pre-treatment and not the discharge of raw sewage into the oceans.
