During the construction of a new Capitol Visitors Centre (CVC) beneath this iconic building, eleven electrical conduits were installed to supply electrical wires for the security system and the other equipment. However, shortly after installation, ground water began seeping in at the joints, causing ceiling discolouration and creating a security risk.

Given that that the CVC was already open to the public, and considering the high levels of security in the area, it was imperative to fix the problem without undertaking any excavation. CIPP was employed to repair the pipes within a tight three-day time frame.

Virginia-based Dynamic Drain Technologies installed an epoxy felt liner within the broken conduits, creating a new watertight pipe within the existing infrastructure. This technology only minimally reduced the initial diameter of the conduit and allowed the electrical contractor to string new wires without the risk of getting caught on joints.
